UNHRC

Agenda: Investigating human rights violations in Iran

Currently, Iran remains at the center of ongoing global discussions surrounding human rights, governance, and state accountability. In this committee, all delegates will strive to investigate allegations of human rights violations, examining their legal, political and social implications within both domestic and international laws and contexts. Through informed debate, the delegates will evaluate the role of international mechanisms, consider the outcomes of interventions, look at sovereignty, and explore different approaches towards solutions, reform, and the protection of fundamental human rights.

Saksham Gupta

Co-director

Saksham Gupta as a chair would feel like a movie, opening with a suave “The name’s Bond… James Bond” vibe, setting the tone with confidence and flair. The trailer? Packed with humor, quick jokes blended with genuine encouragement for new delegates. His natural ability to ease tension would create a comfortable space where everyone can perform at their best. The movie kicks off with energy: speeches like intense fight scenes, POIs like daring stunts, and Saksham right at the center, directing the action. Midway, the climax hits as he introduces creative elements and sharp insights, keeping the committee fully engaged. His deep knowledge ensures he’s always prepared, while his guest speeches inspire delegates to participate with enthusiasm. The ending is a satisfying one, while only a few may win awards, everyone leaves having learned and grown under his leadership. One thing’s certain: it’ll be unforgettable.

Vedant Agarwal

Co-director

If there’s one thing you’ll notice immediately about Vedant in committee, it’s that silence is a rare and endangered species whenever he’s around. Famous (or infamous) for his spectacularly loud interventions, razor-sharp wit, and an almost heroic dedication to making sure nobody *absolutely nobody* misses what he has to say. If you think your speech is going brilliantly, there’s a decent chance Vedant will be the first to gently (or not so gently) remind you that… it isn’t. But step outside the committee room and the battlefield changes completely. Here, Vedant faces his greatest rival, one far less diplomatic and far more terrifying: math. The confidence, the boldness, the dramatic speeches… all vanish the moment someone mentions functions. Just say, “Find the vertical asymptote of (f o g)(x)” and watch the color drain from his face faster than a delegate losing their speaking time. On the brighter side, if debates ever run dry, you’ll always have two guaranteed sources of entertainment: Vedant’s legendary committee interventions… and the moment someone pulls out a math problem. Assistant Director

If you haven't heard of him already Avirath Padora is a VERY buff, EXTREMELY smart and EXCEEDINGLY nonchalant,  Grade 9 student with vast MUN experience ever since his first conference back in Grade 6. Known for bringing chaotic energy to committees, he has pulled off some pretty radical ideas over the years ranging from singing nursery rhymes in speeches (such as singing London bridge is falling down to the delegate of the UK) to creating an entire superhero (called Captain Allah) during a crisis arc and even cracking 67 jokes in formal committee sessions along with other questionable but memorable diplomatic strategies. When he’s not in committee stirring things up, he plays tennis and continues to find new ways to make MUN debates a little less predictable. It’s hard enough to be in his auraful presence in day to day life and he will make it even harder to do so in committee. (written by Ayanssh Tilani)
